I had some difficulty with understanding some words that I am not used to read.
The story itself was very surprising by some personal developments of most of the characters, such as the two main characters Katie and Owen.
In the magical world there is a struggle competing cracked loose where the influence of the bad guys is increasing. The bad guys had first developed a magical flu which resulted in many magical people being ill in bed at home.
And they also sold spells that disturbed the public order and were other people are under the influence of such a spell. After this the bad guys come with suspicious amulets on the market that play an important role between the two companies Magic, Spells and Illusions (MSI) & Spellworks regarding public influence.
Opponents of Owen are trying to blame him for all the crime that takes place in New York. Throughout the whole situation the relationship between Owen and Katie is put to the test. Can Katie help him enough, not only to clear his name, but can she also find the truth in time before Owen is condemned?
