The story happens in the near future and it felt very realistic and credible. Even the most basic foods like bread are priceless, other foods and clean water are also scarce. Laura’s trust in other vulnerable people and her religious vision in God is really admirable.

First her eldest brother was murdered by people from outside of the community, than her father disappears without a trace.

After a while their community is attacked and destroyed by the outsiders, her neighbours are murdered and raped. By a miracle she survived the invasion but lost her stepmother and her two little brothers during the invasion.

So she’s forced to travel by foot on the broken highways due to international shortages of resources. Just like many other people. There is one law: Only the strongest will survive. Will she ever find a new place where she can live safe and with enough food and clean water?
