It took me a while before the story caught my attention, because the description of the prison Zalandov, gave me a comparable image to the Holocaust during the Second World War and at the end, the story confirmed my thoughts about it.

But the more I read, the more the story became interesting with seriously profound plot twists. After the end, I immediately started with the second part.

In this narrative, the reader meets the 17 years old Kiva Meridan, who spent her youth in prison for the past 10 years as a prison healer. Her knowledge of healing was educated by her father in the first few years of her captivity.

The queen of the rebels has been captured and Kiva’s task is to make sure that the ‘queen’ will survive. In order to save her, she had to undergo the deadly trial by Ordeal. But no one ever survived it...
