Throne of glass 1

The story started a little bit strange. The author needed a lot of pages to introduce the most important characters of the story. What I liked the most in this first part is the behaviour change of Celaena, she isn’t just a murderer but she has also her soft female sides with romantic desires and feelings. I love this contradiction in her attitude. She’s really a strong woman in a mental and a physical way. That’s why I like this series that is divided in seven parts so much.

Celaena is a slave that is placed in the dusty salt mine of Endievor. The live circumstances are so bad of the slaves that their dead increased very soon. One day she is picked up by the captain Westfall and he brings her to the king Dorian. He has a proposal for her. Celaena will be used in a to-the-death tournament – she must fight against the most gifted thieves and assassins in the land.

During the tournament, some of the participants are killed in a brute way in the darkest places of the castle. A ghost of an ancestor asked her help to catch the invisible murderer. Can she protect herself and her new friends in time? Who is the murderer?
